1,500+ regulated businesses rely on us for Source of funds verification

## Our report finds what you'd have to look for

Collecting statements is the easy part. The value is in what happens next.

When your client submits their documents, our technology cross-references their questionnaire answers against their actual transactions, automatically surfacing risks like undeclared fund sources, large cash deposits, high-risk country transfers and cryptocurrency involvement.

Your team reviews the flags. Not the entire statement.

## Identify high-risk clients early

The clients who need the closest look rarely flag themselves. Thirdfort checks what each client declares against the transactions in their bank statements, so any gaps surface before they become your problem.

Undeclared sources, unexplained cash, funds from high-risk countries, crypto involvement. You see them flagged and evidenced, in one report, at the point you need them.

### Thorough

## They share it how they want, you get what you need

Clients can upload PDFs or photos of their bank statements directly in the Thirdfort app. Our technology reads and analyses the data exactly as it would via open banking. No email attachments, no paper forms, no manual review on your end.

For clients who use open banking, our app is built to make it as simple as possible. We prompt them through each step, send automated reminders and have a dedicated UK support team on hand if they need help. That's why our clients consistently see strong completion rates, even with clients who are initially resistant.

## What do you do when funds come from five sources?

Source of funds is rarely straightforward. A salary-funded purchase looks very different from a combination of inheritance, a gifted deposit and equity release. Thirdfort is built for all of it.

* Clients declare their sources through a structured questionnaire.
* They upload supporting evidence however works for them.
* We cross-reference their answers against the transactions.
* You get a clear report with risks highlighted and evidence attached.

Whatever the matter, you get the same quality of analysis. That's why firms run thousands of Source of funds verifications through Thirdfort every month.

## See Source of funds verification in action

Take a two-minute tour of the client journey and the report your team gets back.

Source of funds checks are reviewed on Thirdfort's CDD Platform. The Check details page displays client name, file reference, and personal details provided by the user and client. Users can download a PDF version of the report, cancel or delete the check, and view all actions taken through the check progress bar. The page shows information entered at initiation and uploaded documents. An activity log at the bottom provides a time-stamped record of all actions taken by the user, client, or Thirdfort platform. Selecting "view source of funds" from the check details page opens the Source of funds results page, which displays client personal and transaction details. Results are organized into tabs. The Key findings tab surfaces flags or items requiring consideration based on client responses and bank data. Source of funds overview shows all declared sources with a percentage breakdown of the full value by source. Source breakdown provides context about each declared source. Income displays details of declared income including the account receiving salary or payments. Banking overview provides a view of every bank account shared by the client with the ability to filter banking data to review transactions. Users can examine bank statement data by selecting an account and filtering transactions by month and incoming or outgoing transactions. After applying filters, account details and transaction information appear in a table. The Evidence tab allows users to view and download all documents uploaded by the client.

Compared to our previous process, we're saving on average 10 to 15 minutes per file, just on Source of funds checks. This speeds up the journey and means our clients are happier."

When a client was reluctant to use the Source of funds feature, it raised alarm bells immediately. Their statements were later found to be fraudulent. If the app wasn't as slick as it is, such a case may have slipped through the net."

## FAQs on Thirdfort's Source of funds verification

### What if my clients won't use open banking?

---

They don't have to. Clients can upload PDFs or images of their bank statements directly in the Thirdfort app, and our technology reads and analyses the data just as it would via open banking. For clients who struggle at any point, our UK-based support team can help them directly, so it doesn't fall on your team.

### Can Thirdfort handle complex fund sources?

---

Yes. Thirdfort is built for matters with multiple fund sources. Inheritance, gifts, gambling winnings, sale of property, salary savings and more. Clients declare each source through a structured questionnaire and upload supporting evidence. We cross-reference their answers against their transactions and surface any discrepancies in a clear report.

### How does Thirdfort flag potential risks?

---

Our technology compares your client's questionnaire responses to their actual bank transactions. For example, if a client declares £15,000 from an inheritance, we look for that specific incoming payment in their statements. We automatically flag risks, including large cash deposits, undeclared fund sources, funds from high-risk countries and cryptocurrency involvement.

### Does Thirdfort integrate with our case management system?

---

We integrate with a growing number of the UK's leading case management systems, including ActionStep, InTouch, Proclaim, Clio, Reapit and Redbrick. You can initiate verifications and receive completed reports without leaving your existing system.

### Is Source of funds part of a wider platform?

---

Source of funds is one part of Thirdfort's Client Due Diligence Platform, which also covers identity verification, anti-money laundering (AML) screening, politically exposed persons (PEPs) and sanctions, know-your-business checks and ongoing monitoring, all in one place. Many firms start with identity and Source of funds and expand from there.

### How much does it cost?

---

We offer discounts based on how many clients you need to verify, so the more you run, the better the rate. You'll find more on our [pricing page](/pricing/). And we only charge for completed verifications. For a quote tailored to your firm, the best step is to speak to our team.

### How long are contracts?

---

Our contracts are for a twelve-month period. We offer flexibility in the way you purchase credits that are used for checks. Unlike most providers, all credits are valid for two years. If you need to purchase more there is no need to restart your contract term.
